5.0 | Works well using Avasys driver ESC/P driver Posted December 31, 2011, 4:40pm by Rod Skinner, using Ubuntu Linux This is a new printer, cheap and basic, small and light. For me it is a nice upgrade from my old Stylus Color 680, and I can easily get ink cartridges! Whether it will be as easy to refill them is another question ;) It is advertised as working under Linux, but forget about the supplied software disc! First go to Synaptic and install LSB3.2 (lsb-build-cc3 and lsb-build-base3). Now get the Avasys driver ESC/P. Avasys now direct you to: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSE=LXEpson Install it using Ubuntu Software Centre, which adds it to CUPS. (or use dpkg). Follow the printer instructions as far as installing the cartridges. Attach a USB cable (not supplied). Enter localhost631 into your browser, which takes you into CUPS. Now Stylus S22 should be available for you to choose. A range of options are available, without having to use mtink! It is printing nicely under Ubuntu 11.10. |
