Works out of the box

99% working
Posted May 16, 2010, 6:21am by troffasky, using Ubuntu Linux

99% of the functionality of this laptop works out of the box with Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04 64bit.
Things I have tested that work:
- LAN, WLAN 802.11g
- CD writer
- Intel GMA4500M graphics [works with compositing in KDE]
- wireless button [it even flashes when there's traffic!]
- volume adjustment hotkeys
- stereo audio [not virtual surround sound, whatever that is]
- microphone
- webcam
- hardware-assisted virtualisation
- kernel modesetting [high-res console]
Things I have tested that do NOT work:
- screen brightness adjustments are accepted but do nothing
- disable trackpad button won't re-enable the trackpad. Reloading the psmouse kernel module will make it work again.
Things I have not tested:
- HDMI output
- POTS modem
- Bluetooth button [no Bluetooth hardware present]
- 32bit OS
- WLAN 802.11gn
