I use kubuntu 8.10 and only have to install de privative drivers for nvidia(173) and is ready to have fun. Doesn't work at all with a older distribution of ubuntu, I try with ubuntu 8.04 but de raid wasn't found.
If you install the version 177 of the driver you got to fight a lot for put your PC works so so.
Some time the horizontal refresh fail but if you pass over the mouse that is corrected

I'm running Mythbuntu 8.10 and this motherboard is performing wonderfully. I'm using the onboard VGA hooked up to an LCD HDTV and it's pushing 1080p content (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) with no problems what so ever.
Streaming a 1080p video file over samba/nfs at 15MB/sec and playing with MythFrontend works flawlessly.
It took me a minute to get the onboard sound to work, which is why I initially gave this board a 4/5. Now that I've gotten the sound to work, I'm changing my score to a 5/5. Ubuntu 8.10 correctly uses snd_hda_intel module for the card - HOWEVER, it needs to be rmmod'd and then modprobed again after startup (but before login) for it to work. No idea why, but it's not a big deal to add to rc.local. See this forum post for the solution
Solution is to run the following in a terminal:

sudo rmmod snd_hda_intel
sudo modprobe snd_hda_intel

After that, you will have sound but no volume control - logoff and then back on to solve that. As a permanent solution, write a script (or add to rc.local) to automatically execute those commands when booting up but before the login screen.
Prior to getting the onboard sound to work, my workaround was to use PulseAudio and send the sound to my other computer (also running Ubuntu 8.10). For a quick and easy howto on installing PulseAudio, visit this link
Next step will be to get sound working over HDMI ... first I need an HDMI cable.

Disappointing.
It is the adjective that best describes this product.
Tested with Ubuntu 8.04.1 with 2GB DDR2 Kingston HyperX and SATA2 hard drive.
The drivers of the graphics card is not working properly. Even after installing the proprietary pages in Firefox is "deformed" and performance is dismal.
The HDMI output works, but is unable to give a 16:9 image, the image is lost top and bottom of the screen (just where is the panel!)
The sound is still click shut. By setting some parameters makes it less often, but still failing.
The optical output will not work.
In short: not buy this motherboard!
