AMD Sempron works great with Ubuntu Linux
Posted June 22, 2008, 3:14am by unixdude, using Ubuntu Linux

My desktop computer uses the AMD Sempron 2600+ / 1.6 GHz processor CPU. This is the part number: SDA2600BXBOX
I have Linux-Mint-5.0 installed right now. LinuxMint-5.0 is based on Ubuntu 8.04 and my computer runs just fine with this CPU. I have never had any BIOS issues or CPU cooling problems. I have even used this cpu with FreeBSD & OpenSolaris. No problems what so ever. Eventually, I'll move up to dual cpu's from AMD or Intel. But for now the budget sensitive AMD Sempron chip is very Linux friendly. If your on a budget and need a linux kernel friendly inexpensive CPU consider this one.
