Good budget Ubuntu choice

This is another 5050 derivative, but the main upside is the Atheros wifi card.
In simple terms, I can confirm the following works flawlessly:
1. Ubuntu 7.10 LiveCD installation (needs a quick splash-screen fix)
2. Trackpad
3. External monitor / projector
4. USB ports
5. SD card reading and writing (not full 5-in-1)
6. DVD-R drive
7. Speakers / headphones (need to adjust volume in alsamixer)
8. Microphone socket (no internal)
9. Multimedia and control (Fn) keys
What I haven't tried:
1. Suspend / Hibernate
2. Modem
3. Infra-red
