That controller runs fine with Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS (HH). We never had any problems operating that device.
Nevertheless note that the Adaptac driver and storage manager are preferably supported for RedHat systems. It requires some heavy tweaks to convert these RPM packets to DEB ones. In case you do not require that you'll be fine. In fact rebuilding and checking/verifying runs without the driver and software from Adaptec. BIOS version is v4.2 (8209).
The Adaptec 2410SA is superior to the 1210SA model since it has the aforementioned outomatic rebuild and consistancy checks onboard. With the Adaptec 1210SA you have to find a way to rebuild arrays (see packets above). Thats why we recommend the 2410SA model!
