barely works

It is good enough for browsing the internet but that is about it. Technical Compiz works, but some of the effects cause shearing. When trying to play World of Warcraft the frame rate is considerably lower compared to using Windows 2000 Pro. From what I've read, it is caused by the ATI driver and not Ubuntu.

This video card works very well with Ubuntu Feisty. Simply enable the Restricted drivers and reboot.

Good chip in hardware form, terrible driver bottlenecks.

I know it's a given with ATI hardware. What would make a fine lightweight @ high-res (1280x800 tested) gaming GPU, The performance compromises that come with ATI's proprietary Fglrx driver hold it back a few resolution steps. Compared to ATI's windows driver can show an up to 50fps difference in Legends the game, leaving me with a loosely consistent 20-30 fps which gradually degrades during long gameplay periods (can get down to 10fps after playing Legends for about an hour in 1024x768 down from averages of 40fps, Requiring a restart of the X server to restore full performance). Overall unacceptable performance when compared to the windows drivers, unlike Nvidia which keeps their drivers pretty neck and neck with performance. Was a nightmare to get going before the 8.30 drivers were released, but recent drivers have taken care of that. Would be a nice card if they'd put more work into them drivers, fixed the performance issues, add composite support ... Maybe it will happen someday before my next upgrade (if not, i will be avoiding ATI like poison gas clouds).
