Worked for 6 years

Finally broke after 6 years of hard work plugged into Indian spike-enhanced, on-again/off-again, power grid, with no UPS or power protection. But it has been in an a/c office. Every feature needed worked very well including printing to different media, flat bed scanning via xsane / gimp plugins, and the printer\'s built-in reports and settings. Used as a photocopier as much as a printer. Gives excellent control on photocopy result. OS of choice these years has been and is Linux Mint, so this machine has worked with every distribution since July 2007 up to and including the current -as of September 2013- Linux Mint 15, Olivia, based on Ubuntu Raring. Also of note is that the 3rd party cartridges have worked well and are, of course, much less expensive than the HP. It should be noted that while the HP machine is praiseworthy, the HP organization six years ago was atrocious. Two units of the 3055 were delivered unusable - one with mold under the glass, un-user-serviceable, and the next one with broken glass. The warranty arrangement assures extra expense in that a machine delivered broken would not be replaced, rather it would be sent for \"warranty service\" which takes many weeks so a printing-critical situation requires helpful dealer to front a replacement or a backup printer. But, maybe things have improved now! Anyway, great Linux machine. I\'m going to try to find another one. Hope they are still available without mold and broken glass!
